Petals and Wings by Diane Grant Melnik
"Petals and Wings", an exhibit of photographs by Diane Grant Melnik opens at LaBella in New Paltz with a free reception Sunday, May 2 from 4 - 6 PM.
This local artist is better known as an optician welcoming and helping New Paltz families with their glasses in Dr. Morrisons office in New Paltz. Ms. Melnik goes a step further and offers patrons at LaBella another kind of clear focused and lovely viewpoint. The gallery walls of LaBella Pizzeria and Bistro, 194 Main Street in New Paltz, hold a beautiful photographic exhibit of sunfilled flowers and their winged visitors. Large colorful petals are so close you can see the reflection on the dew and count the spots on the visiting ladybug. Butterflies seem to pose only for a second on large sunflowers. Spring insects nearly hide on a spring array of blue flowers. Ms Melnik's passion for photography spread outdoors as her children grew and her talent developed. Come in from the spring rain or relax from your gardening with a moment with the flowers, a glass of wine, a slice, or a full dinner at LaBella.
